Arm Lift – Brachioplasty

Often referred to as “Bat wings” or “Fish bellies” the loose skin and fat that hangs from your upper arms are not easily covered by clothing.  This area can be particularly bothersome to patients.  It is often more dramatic in patients who have undergone massive weight loss.

WHAT IS AN ARM LIFT?

During an upper arm lift (brachioplasty) in the Northern New Jersey Area, Dr. Tutela reshapes the upper arm to tighten loose skin and remove fat. Removing the excess skin caused by weight loss or natural aging can tighten loose skin that extends from the underarm area to the elbow; liposuction is sometimes used in combination to achieve the best results.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR AN ARM LIFT IN THE NORTHERN NEW JERSEY AREA?

Every year, thousands of people undergo successful upper-arm-lift surgery and are pleased with the results. If your weight is normal, but you feel your shape is marred by underarm laxity, or if you have lost a massive amount of weight and are left with excess upper-arm skin and fat that may resemble “bat wings,” then an Arm Lift in the Northern New Jersey Area may be for you.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM AN ARM LIFT?

Women from of all ages choose to undergo breast augmentation and enlargement. If you have breast asymmetry from birth, lack of proportional development, and loss of volume after breastfeeding or saggy breasts due to age and gravity, you are a good candidate. A consultation with Dr. Tutela will determine your eligibility.

HOW LONG IS RECOVERY FROM AN ARM LIFT?

Dr. Tutela may place your arms in a compression garment or wrap immediately following surgery. Wear this exactly as directed. Remove it only as directed for cleansing incisions or showering. Typically this wrap should be worn up to 4-6 weeks.

You will need a few weeks to recover and heal from an arm lift procedure. It will be at least one or two weeks before you can return to work and about ten days before you can drive.
