Liposuction for Men

Do you have stubborn fat deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise? On men, these areas are often on the waist and back, as well as the neck, abdomen, legs, and upper arms. If you are not obese and want to reduce and contour these areas, liposuction may be your answer.

WHAT IS LIPOSUCTION?

Male Liposuction in the Northern New Jersey Area removes fat from your body using suction. Dr. Tutela will target specific fat deposits and remove unwanted fat to restore your body to a more shapely contour.

A local anesthetic is used to numb the area of your body where your fat deposit is accessed. Next, a large amount of an anesthetic solution containing lidocaine is injected into the fatty tissue before traditional liposuction is done. Liposuction may not require general anesthesia (which makes you sleep through the procedure).

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR MALE LIPOSUCTION IN THE NORTHERN NEW JERSEY AREA?

The main purpose of liposuction is to reshape one or more areas of your body, not to reduce body weight. Liposuction is typically used on “problem” areas that have not responded well to diet and exercise.

HOW LONG IS RECOVERY FOR LIPOSUCTION?

Most people are able to get up and move around as soon as the treatment is finished and after the effects of the anesthesia and any sedation have worn off. Depending on the extent of your procedure you may be able to return to your normal activities as soon 1-2 weeks.

After the procedure, the body area treated is firmly wrapped to help reduce swelling, bruising, and pain. Elastic bandages and tape, support hose, a special girdle, or another type of firm-fitting garment may be used, depending on which part of the body was treated. You may have to wear the compression garment or wrap for 3 to 4 weeks. Much of the bruising and swelling may be apparent for the first 7 to 10 days.
