Eyelid Lift – Blepharoplasty

If your eyes appear to be drooping or you notice “bags” under your eyes, you may be a good candidate for blepharoplasty in the Northern New Jersey Area.

WHAT IS BLEPHAROPLASTY?

Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure to remove skin and to add or remove fat from the eyelids. The procedure differs, whether you having it performed on the upper or lower eyelid.

During upper blepharoplasty surgery in the Northern New Jersey Area, Dr. Tutela will make an incision on the eyelid to remove skin and fat. A thin stitch is then used to bring the skin together to allow for a creation of a natural eyelid crease.

During a lower blepharoplasty procedure, Dr. Tutela will either make an incision directly below the lash line or an incision on the inside of the eyelid. An incision inside the lid allows access to eyelid fat without visible incisions, making this technique just right for patients who need fat removed or added.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM BLEPHAROPLASTY?

A more youthful appearance of the eyelid is the main goal of surgery. Eyes look larger, lids less drooping, and puffiness is improved.

HOW LONG IS RECOVERY TIME FROM BLEPHAROPLASTY?

Bruising and swelling are usually worse on the day after surgery, and they quickly dissipate. Using cool compresses can greatly reduce bruising and swelling around the eyes and face. Stitches typically remain in the skin for about a week. Sometimes self-absorbing stitches are used that do not require removal.
