Chin Augmentation

Do you have a weak-looking chin? Does your nose seem out of proportion to your chin?  Then you may want to consider Chin Augmentation.

WHAT IS CHIN AUGMENTATION?

There are two commonly used ways to achieve chin augmentation.  One is carried out by inserting a correctly sized implant through an incision in the lower gum line of your mouth and onto your chin bone, to create a fuller chin.  The other technique takes advantage of commercially available “fillers” or by use of your own fat transferred onto your chin bones, to create an augmentation giving you more definition to your chin.

HOW LONG IS RECOVERY FROM CHIN AUGMENTATION?

There can be a considerable amount of swelling associated with chin augmentation in NYC; somewhat like that associated with the removal of wisdom teeth. Most of the swelling subsides during the first week, though there may still be persistent swelling for another week or two. This will subside and the implant will stabilize and fix in place. The sutures that close the incision site inside the mouth are absorbable and do not require removal. Dr. Tutela advises patients to be on a liquid diet for the first day and on soft, smooth foods for the next day or two to avoid irritation around the incision site.  Using fillers or fat for chin augmentation does not require adherence to a soft diet.
